Overview:
Join our Walking Guide, Pip Line, on this tour in the Alpes de Haute Provence area of France looking at the Andy Goldsworthy series of sculptures and exploring the Dignes les Baines region.
Famous Land Artist, Andy Goldsworthy, has created a series of works of art positioned amongst the stunning landscape of this region. Many of the works are nestled within renovated refuges, formerly abandoned buildings until they were restored by Andy and his team.
Prepared to be amazed by finding these hidden treasures, as well as being bowled over by the incredible views across this little-known region of France on this fabulous walking holiday.
The week starts by visiting the Gassendi Museum in Dignes Les Bains were you can find out about the history of Andy Goldsworthy in the region. From there, you will walk out each day to visit one of the Goldsworthy artworks before retiring to a range of local hotels and chambre d’hotes en route.
You will also have the chance to stay in one of the renovated refuges, where you can savour the atmosphere by candlelight before finishing the week in a spa hotel in Dignes les Bains.
The cost for the week is £750 per person to include;
- 6 days guided walking as per schedule
- 6 nights accommodation in local hotels or gites (2* and above); where possible this will include a private room but you may have to share in some of the more rural locations
- breakfast every morning and picnic lunch en route
- local transport to and from walks and luggage moved between accommodation
- transport to and from Dignes station
The costs to you are flights, evening meals, holiday insurance and the train ticket from Nice to Dignes (Ôé¼35pp each way), drinks and souvenirs.
